Ethnic Percussion Programme (Chinese Drums, Malay Kompang, Indian Dhol)
The Ethnic Percussion Programme brings Chinese drums, the Malay kompang and the Indian dhol into one class, so students play drums from three of Singapore's communities side by side. MOE primary and secondary schools and international schools can book it, and organisations can ask for it too.

What is a dhol?
The dhol is a double-headed drum used across the Indian subcontinent. It is played with two sticks: a thick, curved one for the bass side and a thin one for the higher side.
What do students do in the programme?
Students learn a part on each kind of drum and then put the parts together, so they hear how the traditions sound in one piece.
The programme sits under the Creative Mind, one of the 3 Minds our programmes are built on.
Which schools can book it?
MOE primary and secondary schools, and international schools. Organisations can ask for the programme too. Tell us the level and the number of students you have in mind, and we will plan around them.
How is the programme set up for a school?
Every school's needs are different, so we agree the number of sessions and the group size with each school before the programme starts. Send us your term dates with your enquiry and we can begin from there.
Usual number of sessions, and who supplies the instruments: To be confirmed.
