Music Writing Programme (GarageBand)

The Music Writing Programme teaches students to write a short piece of music of their own in GarageBand, Apple's music app, building it up track by track. MOE primary and secondary schools and international schools can book it, and organisations can ask for it too.

Where does music writing fit in the 3 Minds?

Composition is one of the areas named under the Creative Mind, the 3 Minds pillar for making new work. This programme is where students compose.

What do students do in the programme?

Students start from an idea of their own, a beat or a short tune, and layer parts on separate tracks until the piece is finished. The teacher can put a student's work up on the projector so the class hears it.

Which schools can book it?

MOE primary and secondary schools, and international schools. Organisations can ask for the programme too. Tell us the level and the number of students you have in mind, and we will plan around them.

How is the programme set up for a school?

Every school's needs are different, so we agree the number of sessions and the group size with each school before the programme starts. Send us your term dates with your enquiry and we can begin from there.

Usual number of sessions, and who supplies the tablets: To be confirmed.
