Handbells Programme

The Handbells Programme teaches a group to play tunes on handbells, with each student looking after particular notes and ringing them when they come up in the music. MOE primary and secondary schools and international schools can book it, and organisations can ask for it too.

Primary school girls standing in two groups on a stage, each holding a small coloured handbell.

How does a group play a tune on handbells?

A handbell is a bell rung by hand. In a handbell group, each musician is responsible for particular notes and rings their bells whenever those notes appear in the music.

What do students do in the programme?

Students practise counting and watching for their cue, so the tune passes cleanly from one bell to the next.

The programme sits under the Creative Mind, one of the 3 Minds our programmes are built on.

Which schools can book it?

MOE primary and secondary schools, and international schools. Organisations can ask for the programme too. Tell us the level and the number of students you have in mind, and we will plan around them.

How is the programme set up for a school?

Every school's needs are different, so we agree the number of sessions and the group size with each school before the programme starts. Send us your term dates with your enquiry and we can begin from there.

Usual number of sessions, and who supplies the instruments: To be confirmed.
